A full CBC curriculum from Play Group to Junior Secondary, designed to build competency, creativity, and character.
The Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) is Kenya's transformative education framework that moves away from rote memorisation and towards building real-world competencies. At The Success Haven School, we have embraced CBC wholeheartedly — investing in trained teachers, project-based learning resources, and assessment tools that truly measure what learners can do.
Our CBC implementation covers seven learning areas at lower primary level and broadens into multiple subjects at upper primary and junior secondary, including the three CBC pathways: STEM, Social Sciences, and Arts & Sports Sciences.
We use formative and summative assessments, portfolio-based learning, and regular Learner Progress Reports to ensure parents always know how their child is developing — academically, socially, and emotionally.

Play-based learning focused on language, numeracy, social, and motor skills development. Young learners explore the world through structured play, storytelling, songs, and creative activities that build a lifelong love of learning.
Foundational literacy in English and Kiswahili, mathematical concepts, environmental activities, and creative arts. Teachers focus heavily on individual attention and guided discovery to ensure no learner is left behind.
Subjects expand to include Science & Technology, Social Studies, Agriculture, Home Science, Religious Education, and Creative Arts. STEM integration and digital literacy begin in earnest at this level.
Learners choose from three CBC pathways: STEM, Social Sciences, and Arts & Sports Sciences. Core subjects include English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Health Education, alongside electives and co-curricular activities.
Our STEM programme integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through practical experiments, problem-solving challenges, and innovation projects. Learners build bridges, test hypotheses, and develop computational thinking.
Every learner from Grade 4 upward receives structured digital literacy instruction, learning to use computers, the internet, and digital tools responsibly and productively — an essential skill for Kenya's digital economy.
Our school garden and practical agriculture programme teach learners sustainable farming, food production, and environmental stewardship — practical skills rooted in the CBC curriculum and our Kenyan agricultural heritage.
English and Kiswahili are taught as both languages of instruction and as subjects in their own right. Learners develop strong oral, written, and listening skills, preparing them for secondary education and professional life.
Art, craft, music, and drama are integral parts of our curriculum. These subjects develop creativity, self-expression, cultural appreciation, and collaboration — all core CBC competencies.
CRE is taught across all levels, forming the moral and spiritual backbone of learner development at Success Haven. Bible stories, values discussions, and service learning help shape upright young citizens.
We firmly believe that sport, art, and leadership activities are not extras — they are essential components of a complete education.
